This website is run by Llanidloes Town Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen or losing functionality;
  • navigate most of the site using just a keyboard;
  • navigate most of the site using speech recognition software;
  • listen to most of the site using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver).

We have also tried to make the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. Most notably:

  • some older PDF documents in the Documents archive (agendas, minutes, financial and policy documents) may not be fully accessible to screen reader users;
  • the interactive map embedded on the Contact page is provided by Google and is outside our control;
  • some photographs in the Gallery have a general caption rather than a fully detailed description.

As part of this redesign we specifically checked, and corrected, an issue in the site's underlying code that restricted how far visitors could zoom in on a mobile device - this has now been fixed across every page.

Feedback and contact information

If you need information on this website in a different format, such as an accessible PDF, large print, easy read, audio recording or braille, please contact the Town Clerk:

We will consider your request and aim to get back to you within 10 working days.

Reporting accessibility problems with this website

We are always looking to improve the accessibility of this website. If you find any problems not listed on this page, or think we are not meeting the requirements of the accessibility regulations, please contact the Town Clerk using the details above.

Enforcement procedure

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the "accessibility regulations"). If you are not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).

Technical information about this website's accessibility

Llanidloes Town Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status: this website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed in the next section.

This status reflects a self-assessment carried out during the 2026 redesign, not a full independent audit - see "What we are doing to improve accessibility" below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Some numbered or coded references within the Register of Interests use minute numbers rather than plain-language descriptions, which may be difficult for screen reader users to follow without context. We are reviewing how this is presented.
  • Some decorative and informational images may not yet have text alternatives fully optimised for screen readers across every historic Gallery photograph.

Disproportionate burden

We have not identified any content we are currently claiming disproportionate burden for. We will update this section if that changes.

Content that's not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

  • PDF documents published before 23 September 2018 are exempt from the accessibility regulations unless they are essential to using our services. Many older Minutes, Agendas and financial documents in our archive fall into this category.
  • Some newer PDF documents may also not fully meet accessibility requirements. We are working with document authors to improve this over time, and PDFs essential to Council business will be prioritised.
  • The Google Maps embed on the Contact page is third-party content outside our direct control.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

Following this redesign, our plan is to:

  • commission a full, independent accessibility audit of the website against WCAG 2.2 AA;
  • review and, where practical, replace older non-accessible PDF documents with accessible versions, prioritising documents that are essential to Council services;
  • provide guidance to Councillors and staff on producing accessible documents (Word and PDF) before they are published;
  • review image descriptions across the Gallery.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 11 July 2026. It was last reviewed on 11 July 2026.

This website was last tested by way of a self-assessment against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard, carried out as part of the 2026 website redesign. It has not yet been tested by an independent accessibility specialist, screen reader users, or automated auditing tools. We recommend treating this statement as a starting point rather than a certification of full compliance, and plan to update it once a full audit has taken place.
